Eileen Gordon + Bill Greineder are dedicated to inventive and highly detailed residential design. Our objective is to impart an artistic feel for spatial relationships and materials along with a practical appreciation for the technical requirements of real world, 21st-century construction. Based in San Francisco, we have designed for clients throughout the Bay Area and beyond including the Peninsula, East Bay, Napa, Sonoma, Marin, and Carmel.
The role of Gordon+Greineder is to realize our clients’ vision as an expression of their way of life: to distill their aesthetic and programmatic needs, their desires, and create an elegant home that is an extension of their personalities. Our reputation is for attention to detail and timeless craftsmanship, whether the desired aesthetic is traditional period accuracy or a more contemporary expression.
It is very important to Gordon+Greineder that the design and construction of a home, often a process of several years, be an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. We take pleasure in the relationships we develop over the course of each project and believe in the value of teamwork. As homes become ever more complex and technically sophisticated, the collaboration of a group of skilled technicians and craftsman from a variety of disciplines is essential. We find that a close dynamic between the client, contractor and designer allows for an easier exchange of ideas, leading to greater innovation from the entire team.

Stephen Arnn, Founder
Stephen hails from Oklahoma City where he considered a career as a concert pianist before deciding to obtain his Bachelors of Arts and Sciences in Architecture from Washington University. He spent his early career in Dallas, TX at Pierce Lacey Partnership / PLM Design developing commercial interiors; at Graphic Design Group as a residential design consultant; and at Fitz & Floyd as a product designer. He established Stephen Arnn Design in 1976 to focus exclusively on high end custom homes, relocating the firm to San Francisco in 1987 and developing his practice to encompass the design of new homes and remodels throughout the Bay Area. Stephen invited Eileen Gordon and William Greineder to purchase Stephen Arnn Design in 2004 with the long-term goal of returning to his roots in Dallas. Steve generously agreed to continue his mentorship of Eileen and Bill and of the new firm, Arnn Gordon Greineder, through 2009. After several years of commuting between two cities, Stephen has been pleased to reside in Dallas full time since 2011.
